About Corporate Social Responsibility

"Corporate Social Responsibility is the continuing commitment by business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large."
 — World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Lord Holme and Richard Watts

"CSR means open and transparent business practices that are based on ethical values and respect for employees, communities, and the environment. It is designed to deliver sustainable value to society at large, as well as to shareholders."
 — International Business Leaders Forum

Examples of CSR

Examples of corporate social responsibility initiatives are Toyota’s hugely successful development and marketing of fuel-efficient hybrid automobiles and Starbucks’ program to sustain the success of small coffee growers in developing countries. These efforts can be accomplished at a local, state, national or global level.
